Enabling older people in Edinburgh to enhance their emotional well-being
We were really pleased to announce that we’d been awarded funding from the Edinburgh Change Innovation Fund for support towards our work with older people aged 65 plus and their carers in Edinburgh from April 2011. We’re really excited about benefiting from this new fund which will enable us to have a greater focus in providing support to this important group.
As part of planning ahead for the work we are starting to recruit volunteers to help us with this exciting new work. We would particularly welcome applications from people living in Edinburgh from the age group that the project will be working with, those caring for people aged 65 plus and those with lived experience of depression. If you meet any of these criteria and are interested in helping us in any of the following, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
- Setting up and running self-help support groups
- Helping with information displays about low mood, depression and what sources of information and help are available locally
- Fundraising
- Helping with our community life-skills courses
Support and training will be provided if you choose to volunteer with us and any help you provide will go a long way towards making this a really successful project.
If you would like to volunteer, or if you’d like to find out a bit more before deciding whether to volunteer please do get in touch with Philippa Cochrane on 07919564155 or philippac@actionondepression.org
