Look OK...Feel Crap?

LOOK OK...FEEL CRAP?

Look OK...Feel Crap? is our highly regarded campaign aimed at young adults living with depression.

The campaign has its own website www.lookokfeelcrap.org which hosts an online community and forum with regular online chats.  Look OK...Feel Crap? is also on Facebook and Twitter

If you live in Edinburgh and the Lothians, the Highlands or South Lanarkshire, you may also have seen our awareness raising advertisements on the side of buses and taxis and in shopping centres, pubs and clubs.

The story of Look OK...Feel Crap?

Look OK...Feel Crap? started in 2007.  The name was chosen after we chatted with young adults. We wanted to use language that real people use to reach people who were in a lot of emotional pain but who may not identify with the term depression.

We initially received funding from the Barcapel Foundation to pilot the campaign in Edinburgh and the Lothians. We put our adverts on buses, taxis, in pubs and even on urinals! We also ran courses in the area aimed at supporting young adults.

The pilot was very successful and we received funding from the Scottish government to develop the campaign in the Highlands and to reach young adults all over Scotland using the internet.  Barcapel also continue to support the campaign.   Now money raised by the Super Mandy fund in memory of Mandy Lindsay is being used to bring Look OK...Feel Crap? to South Lanarkshire.

An award-winning campaign

Ilena Day, Action on Depression's Chief Executive, was awarded the 2010 UK campaigner of the year for social inclusion by the Sheila McKechnie Foundation for Look OK...Feel Crap?
